The M5 stud on the glow plug wiring harness on 2.4 TDCI Defenders commonly corrode, and we’ve seen them break away completely. This leaves you with no connection to the glow plugs, and no heat to help start the engine. It is however a simple fix to improve cold weather starting again. These OEM harnesses are a direct replacement and bolt straight in to power up the glow plugs again. We recommend replacing the glow plugs at the same time, and offer the correct Beru plugs to do this too. These are accessed by removing the inlet manifold but these use rubber seals so no other gaskets are usually required. This corresponds to the following part numbers. This will fit the following.
