BRCT TD5 ECU Wiring Loom Extension – 2 Metre – Defender & Discovery – ECU Relocation Harness. Protect Your TD5 ECU from Water Damage. This BRCT TD5 ECU wiring loom extension is designed to relocate the ECU away from the factory mounting positions that are known to be vulnerable to water exposure. On many Discovery 2 TD5 models, the ECU is mounted behind the nearside headlight area inside the engine bay. During heavy rain or deep wading, this area can become saturated very quickly. Water spray and pooling in this location are a common cause of ECU failure. On Defender TD5 models, the ECU is mounted low inside the seat box beneath the driver’s seat. During water crossings or extreme off-road use, water entering the seat box can soak the ECU, often resulting in costly replacements.
