Classic Update Wiring Harness Kit. Brand New Reproduction Wiring Harness Kit. The “Classic Update” wiring kits are made for the restoration enthusiast who wants some modern amenities in their classic vehicle. These kits include everything you need to modernize your classic vehicle: Headlight, Dimmer, and Ignition Switches; Boots, Tubes, and Grommets; Relays, and Flashers; Original Connectors, Terminals, and Disconnects. These kits are specifically made for the listed application and are not a universal designed kit! Manufactured by American Auto Wire. These kits are recommended for MODIFIED original vehicles, not OEM restoration projects. A replacement headlight switch with internal 25-amp circuit breaker, adjustable length shaft, and custom knob. Standard turn signal flasher, hazard flasher, and horn relay mounted on harness. Fuse box designed to fit in original location with no mods to the firewall. All required hardware supplied. New ATO fuse panel allows for easy fuse and circuit breaker accessibility. Harness is laid out and formed to allow for nearly all after market accessories such as; gauge packages, wiper systems, heat and air conditioning systems, etc. Many original switch connector bodies – an American Autowire exclusive feature. Steering column connectors can plug directly into most aftermarket steering columns or stock 1973-79 Ford columns using the adapter and terminals included in the kit. Separate under dash courtesy lamp assemblies are also included for use along with your original dome/interior lighting feeds. Instrument Cluster wiring is designed with a cluster harness disconnect system for easy service and assembly. Original terminals that will plug into the original cluster connector (another American Autowire exclusive) are provided for stock cluster connections. The system will also connect into most popular aftermarket gauges such as DAKOTA DIGITAL, CLASSIC INSTRUMENTS, AUTOMETER, VDO, and others. Rear body harness assembly plugs into the main harness at the left kick panel location and our longer leads allow for stock or custom routing of the wires. Rear body wiring includes backup light lead wires and connectors along with stop and tail light lead wires and connectors. New tail lamp socket and side marker lamp socket pigtail extensions are also included. License plate lamp lead connection, as well as the fuel tank sender lead connection is also included. An optional extra cost dual fuel tank harness is available separately. New floor dimmer switch is provided for ease of installation. Wire length and connection accommodate original floor mount dimmer switch. Engine wiring includes feeds for coil, tach, water temperature, oil pressure, electric choke, and electric speedometer (if needed). A heavy gauge alternator feed and fusible link are also included for any typical high output 1 wire or internally regulated alternator. Connectors supplied for power and tach leads for GM style H. Distributors along with various oil and temp senders. A Ford Gen III series alternator adapter is available separately. Front lighting includes extra long leads that can be routed for stock or optional appearances. All head light, parking light, and directional light leads, along with a switched trigger wire for an electric fan relay (usually recommended with AC) are provided. Mating terminals and connectors are also provided for you to complete your custom installation. New parking lamp socket and side marker lamp socket pigtail extensions are also included. New ignition switch with indexed connector included. New windshield wiper switch with indexed connector and motor leads included which must be mated to your stock motor (mating connector and terminals included). It was developed in house on an actual LS1 engine in an Z32 chassis to ensure a perfect fit to all engine connections. Wiring Specialties offers a number of options for common performance upgrades for this product. Build your perfect harness by selecting from the available options to the right, and as always – if you have any questions, please reach out to us. SUPPORTED ENGINES: Gen 3 Drive By Cable LS1/Vortec. Any LS1 from 2004 Pontiac GTO. DRIVE BY CABLE THROTTLE ONLY. CHASSIS: Z32 LHD USDM 300zx or RHD JDM Fairlady. Factory Speedometer use requires the DD SGi-5 Signal Conditioner Box. Factory Tachometer & Alternator Warning light remain functional. Optional Factory Gauge Sensor Adapters retain the factory Nissan Oil Pressure and Coolant Temp cluster functionality. The adapters are also machined to support most aftermarket temperature and pressure gauges that require a 1/8-27 thread pitch. Will require the use of Nissan Z32 Oil and Temp sensors (1-wire). LS PCM Tachometer Adjustment – The LS1 PCM Startup Tune includes setup of the tachometer signal to work on your chassis. Signal conditioning is generally not required. Startup PCM Flash Tune. GM LS1 PCMs require basic tuning in order to run the LSx engine in a different chassis such as the 240sx, 300zx, Datsun etc. The VATS alarm or Immobilizer will prevent the engine from starting unless it is disabled. The standard base startup tune is VATS / EVAP / Rear O2 / Fuel Tank Purge removal. Most tunes leave the other parameters stock. No performance settings are changed with this startup tune – fuel map changes are NOT part of this service. Alternator Charge Cable – This item ties the starter/battery directly to the Alternator output, which allows the improved power routing on our harness to eliminate the wire running from the alternator to the fusebox and/or battery while still charging the battery normally. Grounding Kit – Our Kit ties a number if engine components to the body of the car and ensures that you will not have issues resulting from poor grounds. The Grounding Kit utilizes Ultra High temp fiberglass sleeving to allow installation under or around exhaust components. Very flexible mounting options allow you to connect the block, head, battery tray, alternator case and chassis to completely eliminate all grounding issues. Speedo Signal Conditioning – The Dakota Digital SGI-5 unit for Speed can’condition’ the signal to compensate for cross-platform swaps. If the Option exists to ADD the unit on the harness page for your swap, then you need it for proper speedo operation. Please note that some transmissions (350z, BMW ZF and S15 Silvia for example) do not have a speed sensor and will require a non-harness based solution like a GPS speedo. Plug-n-Play vs Universal – Plug-n-Play harnesses connect to your car’s underhood fuse box for power and to connectors under the dash for gauges etc. Universal harnesses do not need an underhood fusebox to connect to and the wiring for gauges and warning lights is provided as a’flying lead’ which are bare wires labeled with their function. Right Hand Drive (RHD) Conversions – If you used ALL the stock LHD chassis connectors for your RHD swap, order the LHD version of the harness. If you used ALL the clip/swap RHD chassis connectors, order the RHD version of the harness. Don’t See It? Chances are we can do it! Battery Cables / Battery Relocation – The battery must be connected to the starter, so you need a battery cable from the positive battery terminal to the starter main power lug. Typically this positive battery cable also powers up the main under hood fusebox, which runs many of the non-engine items on your car like interior lights, dash power and headlights/taillights.
